Disability Certificate Tamil Nadu Government Eligibility Criteria

According to Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the person needs a specific degree of disability, which must be at least 40% or more, so an eligible person can get a disability certificate in the state of Tamil Nadu. The disabilities covered are:

How to Apply?

The Tamil Nadu government has streamlined the application process. Follow these steps to apply:
1.Visit the Nearest Government Hospital: The first step is to consult a government hospital in Tamil Nadu, where a medical board evaluates the disability.
2.Undergo Medical Assessment: The medical board will conduct an examination and determine the percentage of disability.
3.Obtain Medical Report: After assessment, the board provides the medical report stating the type and degree of disability
4.Apply Online through UDID Portal: The Unique Disability ID (UDID) portal of Government of India allows applying online. Now, to avail the UDID, applicants can register through Tamil Nadu’s e-governance portal as well.

The following documents are required for the disability certificate application:
1.Aadhaar Card
2.Passport-sized Photographs
3.Medical Reports and Diagnosis Proof
4.Proof of Residence (Voter ID, Ration Card, etc.)
5.Birth Certificate or Age Proof
